Your First Consultation at PainterMed: What Happens and Why

Your first consultation at PainterMed is a private video visit with Michael Painter, MMS, PA-C, who reviews your health history, current medications, and goals, explains your options and the reasoning behind them, and helps you decide your next step, with no pressure to purchase anything. It is a real clinical conversation, not a form to clear before a product ships.

If you have never done a telemedicine consultation, a little clarity about what happens removes most of the uncertainty. Here is exactly what to expect, and why each part matters.

What happens before the visit?

You choose a time and complete a short intake covering your health history, current medications, and what you are hoping to change. This is not a lengthy questionnaire that decides your care — it is groundwork, so your consultation can be a genuine conversation rather than a form-reading exercise. PainterMed serves eligible patients across Florida, so the visit happens from wherever you are.

What does Michael review during the consultation?

The visit is a private, one-on-one video conversation — the same clinician who would design and oversee your care, not a rotating provider or a chat window. Michael reviews your health history and current medications, asks about what you have been experiencing and what you want to change, and looks at how those pieces fit together.

This review is where real safety lives. Many therapies interact with existing prescriptions or health conditions, and a proper evaluation is what catches that before anything is prescribed.

What questions should I bring?

Bring anything on your mind, including the skeptical ones. Useful things to think through beforehand:

  • What you have noticed, and roughly when it started
  • Your current medications and supplements
  • Any prior treatments you have tried, from any source
  • What a good outcome would look like for you

There are no wrong questions. The consultation works best as a candid exchange between two people trying to get the answer right.

Will I be pressured to buy anything?

No. The consultation exists to determine what is genuinely appropriate for you — and sometimes the honest answer is that a therapy is not the right fit, or that something else should come first. If treatment is appropriate, Michael designs a plan around your body and explains the reasoning before you decide anything. You will not be pushed, and you will not be told what you want to hear if the honest answer is different.

What will I understand by the end?

By the end of the visit, you will understand your options, the reasoning behind any recommendation, and what your next step looks like — whether that is beginning a protocol, waiting, or something else entirely. You decide from there, on your timeline.

What happens after the first visit?

If you begin a protocol, your care does not stop at the first prescription. Follow-up is scheduled to review how you are responding, address any effects, and adjust the plan as your body changes — and between visits, questions reach a real clinician directly rather than a support queue. Many patients find this continuity is the part they value most: not any single visit, but the standing fact that someone qualified holds the whole picture of what they are taking and why.

Why the consultation comes first

Every step exists to answer one question responsibly: what is appropriate for this specific person? No algorithm, menu, or trending protocol can answer it, because none of them knows you. A clinician who has evaluated you can — and that evaluation is what makes any treatment that follows worth having.

Booking commits you to nothing except a real conversation with the clinician who would design your care.
