Important Safety Information

Last Updated: October 8, 2026

This page provides general safety information that applies to all services offered by PainterMed, LLC (“PainterMed,” “the Practice”), a founder-led concierge telemedicine practice serving eligible patients in Florida, led by Michael Painter, MMS, PA-C. Please read it carefully. It is intended to help you understand how care works at PainterMed, the general risks and limitations of treatment, and your rights and responsibilities. It applies in addition to any treatment-specific information provided to you during your care and to our Privacy Policy & Notice of Privacy Practices, Terms of Service, and Telehealth Informed Consent.

Educational Content Is Not Medical Advice

The information on our website and in our resource materials is provided for general educational purposes only. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and it is not a substitute for a consultation with a qualified clinician. Reading our content does not create a provider-patient relationship. Never disregard or delay seeking professional medical advice because of something you have read on our website.

Not for Emergencies

PainterMed does not provide emergency care. If you are experiencing a medical emergency — including chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe allergic reaction, thoughts of harming yourself, or any life-threatening symptom — call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room immediately. Our website, email, messaging, and booking tools are not monitored for emergencies and must not be used to request urgent or emergency care.

How Care Works at PainterMed

Care at PainterMed always begins with a clinical evaluation. It is never based on a product menu, a checkout page, or a brief questionnaire alone.

  1. Consultation. You meet with Michael Painter, MMS, PA-C in a private video visit conducted over Google Meet. No third parties are attached to or permitted to join your consultation.
  2. Evaluation. Michael reviews your health history, your current medications and supplements, any relevant health conditions, and your goals and concerns.
  3. Clinical judgment. Based on that evaluation, Michael determines whether any treatment is appropriate for you. Sometimes the appropriate recommendation is a specific treatment; sometimes it is a different approach, an in-person evaluation, a referral, or no treatment at all.
  4. Personalized protocol. If treatment is appropriate, your protocol is designed for you — not issued as a standardized plan applied to everyone — and explained to you along with its purpose and relevant considerations.
  5. Follow-up. Where treatment is provided, follow-up is part of care. Your response is monitored, and your protocol may be adjusted, continued, or stopped based on how you respond and any changes in your health.

Your Clinician

Care at PainterMed is provided by Michael Painter, MMS, PA-C, a physician assistant licensed in Florida (license PA9107496), who practices under the supervision of Khalil Khan, DO (Florida license OS10066). Treatment is available only to eligible patients in Florida.

How Treatments Are Prescribed

Any treatment provided by PainterMed is prescribed only by a licensed clinician, only after a clinical evaluation, and only when the clinician determines it is appropriate for you.

  • Individualized. Treatment decisions are based on your specific health, history, medications, and goals. What is appropriate for one person may be inappropriate for another.
  • Not guaranteed. Booking a consultation or requesting a treatment does not entitle you to receive it. Michael may decline to prescribe a treatment if it is not clinically appropriate or safe for you, and he will explain his reasoning.
  • Reviewed for interactions and contraindications. Your current medications and health conditions are reviewed because treatments can interact with other medications or be unsafe given certain conditions.
  • Explained before you decide. You will be given the information you need to make an informed decision before any treatment begins, and you may decline or discontinue treatment at any time.

Whether any therapy is appropriate for you is a clinical decision that can be made only through evaluation. No statement on our website should be understood as a recommendation that you personally use any particular treatment.

Prescriptions, Pharmacies and Reorders

PainterMed does not manufacture, compound, sell, dispense, or ship medication. Medication cannot be purchased on this website. Booking a consultation and the $25 deposit reserve a consultation only.

If a prescription is appropriate, Michael sends it to a licensed dispensing pharmacy. The pharmacy prepares the medication and ships it to you. The dispensing pharmacy is identified on your prescription label, and you may ask us at any time which pharmacy is filling your prescription.

Reorders are not automatic. Before any additional medication is authorized, Michael reviews how you are responding, any side effects, your updated health information, and laboratory testing where indicated. Prescriptions are never renewed without a follow-up evaluation.

Compounded and Non-FDA-Approved Therapies

Some therapies that may be discussed or prescribed at PainterMed are compounded, meaning they are prepared by a licensed compounding pharmacy rather than sold as a mass-manufactured, FDA-approved drug.

Compounded therapies are not FDA-approved and are not reviewed by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for safety, effectiveness, or quality before they are marketed. Compounding is a lawful and regulated part of medicine, but because the layer of pre-market FDA review that exists for approved drugs is not present for compounded preparations, clinical judgment, appropriate sourcing, and monitoring are essential. Where a compounded therapy is recommended, your clinician will discuss its nature and relevant considerations so you can make an informed decision.

A compounded medication is not a generic version of, and is not the same as, any FDA-approved drug, even when it contains a similar active ingredient. Results seen with an FDA-approved product cannot be assumed for a compounded preparation.

PainterMed prescribes a compounded therapy only when Michael determines it is clinically appropriate for you and a licensed pharmacy can lawfully prepare it. Substances that federal law does not permit to be compounded are not prescribed.

General Risks and Considerations

All medical treatment carries some degree of risk, and it is important that you understand the following before beginning any treatment:

  • Individual responses vary. Results are not guaranteed, and the same treatment can affect different people differently. Nothing on our website is a promise of any particular outcome.
  • Side effects and reactions are possible. Any treatment that affects the body can cause side effects or, in rare cases, serious or allergic reactions. You should report any unexpected or concerning symptoms to the Practice promptly, and seek emergency care for any severe reaction.
  • Interactions matter. Treatments can interact with medications, supplements, or health conditions. Provide complete and accurate information, and inform us of any changes to your medications or health during your care.
  • Some conditions require in-person care. Telehealth cannot replace all in-person evaluation. If your situation requires an in-person examination, testing, or a higher level of care, your clinician will tell you and direct you appropriately.
  • Follow guidance as given. Using a treatment other than as directed, or continuing it without appropriate follow-up, can affect your safety. Do not adjust, share, or continue any treatment without clinical guidance.

Safety Information by Treatment Area

The information below summarizes important considerations for each area of care. It is not a complete list of risks. Your clinician will review the specific risks of any treatment recommended to you before you decide.

Medical Weight Loss

Medications in the GLP-1 class commonly cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, and abdominal discomfort, especially when a dose is increased. FDA-approved GLP-1 medications carry a boxed warning about thyroid C-cell tumors observed in animal studies, and they should not be used by anyone with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).

Other serious risks include inflammation of the pancreas, gallbladder problems, low blood sugar (particularly with insulin or sulfonylureas), kidney problems related to dehydration, and serious allergic reactions. These medications are not used during pregnancy. Tell us if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding, and about any history of pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, kidney disease, diabetic eye disease, depression, or thoughts of self-harm.

Hormone Optimization

Hormone therapy can raise red blood cell counts and blood pressure, reduce fertility and sperm production, and worsen certain existing conditions. It is not appropriate for people with certain hormone-sensitive cancers. Topical hormone products can transfer to other people, including children and partners, through skin contact. Hormone therapy requires baseline and follow-up laboratory testing.

Erectile Dysfunction Therapy

Erectile dysfunction can be an early sign of heart disease, diabetes, or a hormonal condition, which is why evaluation comes first. Commonly prescribed ED medications must never be taken with nitrates, such as nitroglycerin, or with riociguat, because the combination can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure. Use caution with alpha-blockers and alcohol. Seek emergency care for an erection lasting more than four hours, sudden loss of vision or hearing, or chest pain.

NAD+ Therapy

NAD+ is not FDA-approved to treat any condition, and evidence for many of its uses is limited. Possible side effects include flushing, nausea, headache, fatigue, and pain or redness at the injection site.

Peptide Therapy

Many peptides are not FDA-approved for any use, and human clinical data for many of them are limited, so long-term safety may not be established. Possible side effects include injection-site reactions, allergic reactions, and effects specific to the peptide prescribed. Injectable therapies can cause infection if they are not stored, handled, and administered exactly as instructed.

Telehealth: Benefits and Limitations

Telehealth allows you to receive care conveniently and privately from a location of your choosing in Florida. It also has limitations: a video visit does not include a hands-on physical examination, and technical issues can occasionally affect a visit. Your clinician may determine that telehealth is not appropriate for some or all of your care and may recommend in-person evaluation. Full details are described in our Telehealth Informed Consent, which you will be asked to review before your consultation.

Eligibility

To receive care through PainterMed, you must be at least 18 years old and physically located in the State of Florida at the time of your consultation. Our services and website are intended for adults and are not directed to children.

Your Responsibilities as a Patient

Your safety depends in part on the information and cooperation you provide. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information about your health, medications, and history.
  • Inform us promptly of any changes in your health or medications during your care.
  • Follow the guidance provided as part of your treatment and attend scheduled follow-up.
  • Report side effects or concerns promptly, and seek emergency care when appropriate.
  • Ask questions any time something is not clear.

Your privacy is protected. PainterMed handles your Personally Identifiable Information and Protected Health Information in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and applicable state law.
